just to clarify, acesulfame potassium is a form of potassium salt and not related to aspartame in any way. thankfully, idiotic ideas have not deterred people from these protein bars; they are one of the best tasting bars on the market with a nutritional profile better than any other bar i have encountered. cinnamon bun is my favorite, served with coffee, to recreate breakfasts reminescent of my nutritionally-unaware past. the fact that these bars are made with glycerin as opposed to maltitol gives them extra points in my book (maltitol is a sugar alcohol, glycerin is not). highly recommended.

I have eaten Atkin's Morning Start Breakfast bars for more than two years. I no longer eat them because they now contain Acesulfame potassium, an Aspartame derivative. Aspartame is carcinogenic. There was no good reason to add this dangerous sweetener to this product. The FDA approves Aspartame and its derivatives. They are notlooking out for the public's best interest, just their own. Sucralose is 600 times sweeter than sugar, so why would you have to add a carcinogen to this product? Dr. Atkins must surely be rolling over in his grave.
