Optimum Nutirtion 100% Egg Protein Reviews

Index > Optimum Nutrition > Egg White Protein Reviews

Eggs contain all of the eight essential amino acids (the type that your body cannot make from other substances) and very high levels of total amino acids - especially important sulfur-containing aminos. Eggs are also readily digested and absorbed. As a lactose-free protein source, eggs are often more tolerable to people who have trouble with dairy foods. For these and other reasons, eggs have been a staple of bodybuilders diets since the beginnning of the sport.

optimum nutrition 100% egg protein

100% Egg Protein contains the nutritional equivalent of seven egg whites and takes only 10 seconds to prepare. It provides a complete profile of essential Amino Acids, Branched Chain Amino Acids and Glutamic Acid.

I love it April 30, 2010
Reviewer: Jill from new york

I've been using egg white protein powder for about 5 years now, and I love it. I use the vanilla custard, from Optimum nutrition.

Terrible Taste (Vanilla Egg custard) July 10, 2008
Reviewer: AV from California

Are these previous reviews written by peope with human taste buds?? Which flavour are they reviewing because Vanilla Custard tastes as bad as skunk!!

PROS

Egg protein has a good nutritional profile so it assimilates slower than Whey and thats a benefit when sleeping at night.

CONS

Taste - The WORST tasting protein powder I have ever come across in over 11 years of using protein supplements. It tastes extremely chemical. The sweetener and flavouring agent they have used is AWFUL. Its so bad the only way I could drink it was by doing the following:

1. pinching my nose (otherwise the taste would make me want to throw up)

2. pouring it down my throat with my free hand.

3. Immediately rinse my mouth with water to get rid of the aftertaste

4. Suck on a mint to get rid of the remainder of the taste

After about 5 uses I just couldn't bear the thought of drinking anymore of it and just threw it all away.

Customer Service - Several emails to Optimum Nutrition about this product and the poor taste have gone unanswered. So their "customer service" is a joke.

On a scale of 1-10 (1 being the worst) I'd give this product a zero.

How Optimum Nutrition so totally mess up the safest flavour in the world (Vanilla)?? Do their product development guys actually taste the stuff? I'm sure even roadkill has a better flavour .....

CONCLUSION:

Sure it has a great nutrition profile, but so does every other egg protein powder out there and those other ones are tasty and go down easy. Even the no-name generic store egg proteins I've consumed are far superior to this.

There are lots of good, tasty and easy to drink protein powders (whey, hemp, rice, egg), why anyone would buy Optimum's Egg protein is beyond me.

Good stuff December 05, 2006
Reviewer: Pablo from GA

Taste is an overall concern of mine with supplements. This stuff is great with milk and slightly bareable with water. Mix it in with some plain oatmeal to add some flavor.
